The Government of Alberta announced that it will be supporting over 10 international hockey events and hockey development camps over the next four years across the province.
Minister of Tourism and Sport Joseph Schow says it’s a significant investment in the provinces sports legacy, with 11 million going towards the events that will be held within Alberta.
Minister Schow goes on to explain what the events will be over the next several years within Alberta for the athletes and hockey fans.
Schow adds that with these events it will be bringing a lot of eyes towards Alberta, and a huge economy boost towards small businesses and restaurants within the province.
Dean McIntosh, senior vice-president, revenue, fan experience and community impact with Hockey Canada says that hockey connects communities and says it’s a first of it’s kind agreement within Canada help the sport grow.
