On February 24th, 22 communities across the province of Alberta will participate in the ‘Coldest Night of the Year‘ event, joining 190 other communities across Canada to help spread awareness and to raise money for local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger and homelessness.
Windspeaker Radio Network spoke with Mika Takamaki, charity relations for the ‘Coldest Night of the Year’ speaks on what the event is all about since it’s inception in 2011.
Takamaki says since the launch of ‘Coldest Night of the Year‘, over 75 Million dollars have been raised, with last year’s event raising 13 million that goes towards helping local charities to help those in need.
Takamaki adds that with those numbers, he knows that will help with food, shelter and counseling supports to make a big difference for many experiencing hunger and homelessness.
