After a dog died while falling through the ice on the North Saskatchewan River, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services sent out a warning to everyone to stay off the ice.
On February 11th, crews were sent out near the High Level Bridge after there was a report of a dog in the river.
EFRS are urging everyone to stay off the ice which can be ‘very thin’ in some areas, the North Saskatchewan River can have very powerful currents.
If anyone sees a person or animal falling through the ice, EFRS asks that you call 9-1-1 and keep sight of the person or animal to help crews be as efficient as possible.
