CARE opening new K-6 school for children with autism in Edmonton

Earlier in February, Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton (CASE) announced a new K-6 school exclusively for children with autism.

CASE has secured property, donations and approval to move forward on the project at 17456 102 Ave.

Terri Duncan is the Executive Director of CASE and says the need for this school in the Edmonton area is massive.

In addition to the curriculum being different, the approach to teaching will be different than other schools.

Duncan discusses the ’emotional regulation’ approach, with the focus being tailored towards building relationships with the students.

The school will open in September 2024 and hopes to teach close to 200 students. Donations can be made to CARE by visiting their website.
