The Cold Lake Food Bank is encouraging Cold Lake and area residents to put on their boots, team up, fundraise, and walk in The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY). This family-friendly, winterific fundraising event takes place from 4pm to 7pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024 to help provide food to those facing food insecurity in Cold Lake and the surrounding area.
Nic Caron-Lavoie, executive director of the Cold Lake Food Bank spoke with CFWE about the fundraising event, as she says she’s excited to see how the first one goes within the community.
Lavoie says that during the cold winter months, the food bank sees a lower rate of donations, with the fundraiser, she adds that it will help combat food insecurity in the food bank.
Lavoie goes on to say that it’s amazing to see the residents come together with one another to support the cause, along with wanting to reach a fundraising goal of $20,000 dollars for the Cold Lake Food Bank and food donations.
