Indigenous Celebration Week kicks off at the University of Alberta from January 30-Febuary 2nd at the Student’s Union Hall, where many students and the community can learn about the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit cultures.
Windspeaker Radio Network spoke with Danni Okemaw, First Nations, Metis and Inuit specialist at the University of Alberta Student’s Union, as she talks about what people can expect at this year’s celebration.

Okemaw says that last year’s event was to shine light on the current Indigenous students enrolled into the University, with her focus now on highlighting the Indigenous students of the past that helped pave the way for current students to walk today.
