Vehicles below the 5,000 kilogram limit can use the winter road during the day if necessary. All drivers are reminded to obey all detour signs and avoid closed-off routes.

On Saturday, January 27, the daytime load limit for the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road is reducing to 5,000 kg to prevent damage to the road during warmer temperatures.
Heavy vehicles up to 27,500 kilograms can still use the winter road from 9:00 PM until 9:00 AM when the temperatures drop, but those on the winter road during the day time will be fined.
