The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is now investigating an officer involved shooting on December 20th.
RCMP say a woman was held hostage in her home by a man with a gun, leading to the suspect being shot by an officer. Both the suspect and woman were taken to hospital.
Crews were called to the dispute at 11am in a northwest neighborhood. According to police, the man had assault and injured the woman before firing a gun inside the house.
RCMP were able to get inside the house and bring the woman out to safety before the 42 year old suspect fired his weapon, leading to officers firing back.
ASIRT’s investigation will examine the use of force by the officers and is asking anyone who may have information regarding the incident to contact investigators at 780-644-1483.
