Edmonton’s Bissell Centre sending out call to action for warm winter gear

The city of Edmonton remains one of the coldest places in the world, leaving the community’s less fortunate in very poor living conditions.

To help fight the cold weather, the Bissell Centre in Edmonton is reaching out to the public in hopes of gaining donations, whether that be clothing or monetary.

Christopher Schieman is the Communications Specialist for the Bissell Centre and says the organization always sees a large number of people trying to access their services during these snaps.

Schieman encourages anyone who’s able to give back to donate either monetary funds or help out with pieces of warm winter clothing.

Some of the items needed right now include:

• Gloves & boots
• Coats & warm pants
• Scarves & toques
• Thermal underwear
• Hand/foot warmers

Other items needed year round include:

• Backpacks and purses
• Toothbrushes and toothpaste
• Shampoo and conditioner
• Deodorant, razors and toilet paper
• Diapers (all sizes) and formula
• Wipes, lotions, women’s sanitary
• pads, men’s and women’s adult pads
