As the clock ticks down to the final moments of the year, Edmonton’s Churchill Square will be transformed into the vibrant hub of the city’s New Year’s festivities on December 31.
This year’s New Year’s Eve celebration includes an early fireworks show at 9 p.m. for families, as well as a traditional midnight fireworks display. The fireworks, approximately 12 minutes in length, will launch into the skies over the pyramids of City Hall.
Windspeaker Radio Network spoke with Meshkin Makari, supervisor of the civic centre program and events team speaks on what Edmontonians can expect when celebrating the kickoff to the New Year of 2024.
Makari says when looking back at 2023, it was a full return to events for the city of Edmonton and the local organizers, and is excited to see a full return of the New Year programming for the community to enjoy.
Makari advises many to consider taking transit to Churchill Square and gives tips on the best spots for checking out the firework display.
