On the last day of Metis Week, Kingsway Mall hosted the second annual Metis Market, with close to 50 vendors from the community coming together to showcase and celebrate the Metis culture, hand-made jewelry, crafts and clothing.
Windspeaker Radio Network spoke with Krista Leddy, organizer of the Metis Market. She says it’s amazing to be hosted by the mall, as many gathered to check out the market and community of the event.
Leddy says for both Metis and non-Metis citizens to show their support is a beautiful thing to see, while learning about the traditions, culture and purchasing from the local vendors at the market.
Leddy goes on to say that people see value in the market, as over 50 vendors were displayed within the mall, as it continues to grow each year.
Leddy adds that the biggest take away is that the Metis people are not hiding in plain sight, along with having many stories to tell and is excited to return to the mall for next years event.
