The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is releasing a surveillance image of two male suspects wanted in connection to Thursday evening’s Amber Alert.
“Investigators believe these are the two male suspects who stole the vehicle last night with a vulnerable 40-year-old woman seated in a wheelchair inside the vehicle,” stated EPS Northwest Branch Staff Sgt. Andrew Larson.
“We’re extremely grateful to the community and our RCMP partners who located the stolen vehicle and helped bring this woman back to her family safe and unharmed. We continue to look for any information that will lead us to these two male suspects.”
EPS issued an Amber Alert for the 40-year-old female, who was abducted in a stolen vehicle Thursday evening near 118 Avenue and 91 Street, after learning that the female was blind and non-verbal. The vehicle was left idling outside of a store, while her caregiver ran inside to make a quick purchase.
The stolen 2013 white Toyota Sienna van was discovered by an off-duty RCMP officer parked and still running on a street in Fort Saskatchewan shortly thereafter. The female complainant was found safe and unharmed inside the vehicle. Once on scene, EMS transported the woman to hospital purely for precautionary reasons.
RCMP Canine Unit resources were called out to scene, though they were unable to establish a track on the two suspects.
