Bonnyville Friendship Centre's Honoring the MMEIP and Stolen Children

The Bonnyville Friendship Centre will be honoring the Stolen Children and Missing Murdered Exploited Indigenous People at the Bonnyville Centennial Centre.

Janet Gobert, CEO of the Bonnyville Native Friendship Centre spoke with CFWE, saying it’s a solemn honor and a privilege to come together as a community to raise awareness surrounding the event.

Gobert talks about what many community members of Bonnyville can expect at the Centennial Centre MMEIP gathering.

Gobert adds that everyone in the community is welcome to attend, to help bridge the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

Gobert says that it’s a collective effort of marking a day of healing and respect for Indigenous people within the community, and hopes that people can both show support of families that lost love ones, along with raising awareness to pursue justice, healing and change within the community.
