The 2023 Alberta Indigenous Games (AIG) continued it’s ten days of competition over the weekend inside the Saville Community Sports Centre, where gold medals where awarded to the Treaty Six Eagles from Fort McMurray.
Treaty Six Eagles Player Raylee Tremblay spoke with Windspeaker Radio Network about her experience on the court, saying it’s really good to be bringing home the gold from the AIG.
Before competing in the Alberta Indigenous Games, Raylee Tremblay competed in the Winnipeg Volleyball Nationals in May of 2023, where she captured gold with the 14U Fort McMurray Thunder Volleyball Club.
Assistant Coach of the Treaty Six Eagles Trish Tremblay says that she’s very proud of her team, as the Treaty Six Eagles where amongst 24 other teams within their age group that competed in the Alberta Indigenous Games.
Assistant coach Tremblay says what the Alberta Indigenous Games is doing for Indigenous athletes is great by having them get together with making new friends and experiences in different levels throughout different forms of athletics.
