Less than a year after Dynalife Medical Labs expanded their community lab services beyond the Edmonton region, Alberta Health Services provincial labs are taking over.
Health Minister Adriana LaGrange announced an agreement in principle had been signed to sell all of Dynalife’s staff, equipment, operations and property in Alberta to AHS and AHS-owned Alberta Precision Labs.
The process will be executed through a number of phases, expected to be completed in December. This change is meant to address the delays that made getting lab tests “very difficult” in Alberta.
APL is made up of health-care professionals that work exclusively out of hospitals and urgent care centres.
The province used APL to boost the number of appointments it could offer in order to address a severe delay in services earlier in the year.
The change will not affect existing appointments, and anyone needing tests will be able to book new ones throughout the process.
