Metis Crossing in Smokey Lake hosted the Metis Nation of Alberta’s 95th Annual General Assembly and ‘The Beavers Den’ over the weekend.

Madam President of the Metis Nation of Alberta Audrey Poitras spoke with Windspeaker Radio Network about the meaning behind the AGA, and the many things that MNA community members where able to partake in, such as the Artisan market, activates for children, and uplifting Metis youth with ‘The Beavers Den’.

One of the youth featured in the Beavers Den is 16-year-old Molly Wagar, entrepreneur and owner of ‘Sweet Bakes’ told Windspeaker Radio Network that it’s an amazing opportunity to have a place to showcase her business, with her dreams to one day own a bakery and hair-salon.

During the General Assembly, Poitras gifted many Rupertsland Institute Alumni with a sash, as she says it’s heartwarming to see the many lives changed with the help of financial aid from both the MNA and Rupertsland Institute.
