The Alberta Indigenous Games is returning to the city of Edmonton for 10 days of competition from August 9-19, with athletes coming from many provinces in Canada and the United States.
Jake Hendy, CEO of the Alberta Indigenous Games spoke with Windspeaker Radio Network about the excitement for the event, and what people can expect at the opening ceremonies that will be held inside Hall D at the Edmonton Expo Center on August 9th.

With last years event seeing well over 4,000 athletes from across Turtle Island competing at the Alberta Indigenous Games, this year Hendy says that over 5,000 will be competing this year, with over 92 percent from Alberta. Other provinces such as Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and North West Territories.

Hendy says that he and his team have felt the overwhelming support from community organizers to help put on a space for athletes to compete within this years games.
