There were six occupants in total inside the vehicle at the time of the collision. Paramedics treated and transported five of the occupants to hospital, two of which sustained life-threatening injuries.
The sixth occupant, a 21-year-old male, was discovered deceased, after being ejected from the vehicle during the collision.
The Edmonton Police Service’s Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) has since taken over the investigation.
Northbound and southbound lanes of 17 Street between Silverberry Road and 34 Avenue were closed while officers investigated.

Investigators are hoping to speak to anyone who may have seen the second vehicle involved and/or the collision itself.
In addition, anyone with dashcam footage of the vehicle involved or the moments leading up to the collision should contact the EPS by calling 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
