Maskwacis residents can now access the brand new Mobile Mental Health unit.
In 2012, Maskwacis Mobile Mental Health started providing 24 hour mobile support to people with no need for appointments, schedules or referrals. Meaning anyone looking to access these services would just need to call the number for help.
All of the services and support are developed in consultation with Elders, community members and key stakeholders to ensure supports are client and family oriented.
By reaching people on the ground quickly, the organization is seeing success and the opening of the new building highlights the importance of mental health in the community as they will be able to expand wrap-around services.
Samson Chief Vernon Saddleback said, since the inception of the mobile mental health service and prior to COVID, there were no suicides on Samson Cree Nation.
