Police are investigating after a church in Lac La Biche was damaged by fire on Canada Day, but say it is too early to determine the cause.
Emergency crews responded to a fire at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in the northeast Alberta community just after 6:30 a.m. Saturday. The structure suffered “significant damage inside and out,” Lac La Biche RCMP said in a news release Saturday.
Rt. Rev. David Greenwood, Bishop for the Anglican Diocese of Athabasca said no injuries were reported.
RCMP are asking Lac La Biche residents in the 101 to 103 blocks of Churchill Drive to check security footage for any suspicious activity. Investigators are also soliciting tips, either to the detachment’s non-emergency line or through Crime Stoppers.
