
With the championship on the line in the $25,000.00 Championship Final Heat, it was Chad Fike – driving the Al’s Contracting Outfit, and along with outriders Trey MacGillivray and Tyler DeSutter, who ultimately prevailed. The win was the first for chuckwagon driver Chad Fike.
In an extremely exciting championship final heat, Fike captured the Dewberry crown with a penalty free run of 1:09.09 after coming off of barrel position number 1 in the championship final. Vern Nolin from barrel position number 3 placed second in the heat, 49 one-hundredths of a second behind the winner Chad Fike, with Dustin Gorst placing third from barrel position number 2 in a penalty free heat.
As far as day results go, it was former Dewberry champion Obrey Motowylo, driving the VJV Livestock Marketing Group – Ponoka, Westlock, Rimbey Outfit who had not only the fastest time of the afternoon with a 1:08.16, but the fast time of the race meet from barrel number 2 in the fifth heat.
