The evacuation order that displaced 8,000 Edson residents remained under an evacuation order this morning.
Edson chief administrative officer Christine Beveridge said Wednesday that cooler temperatures have helped firefighting efforts but crews have not been able to push the fire back from the south edge of Edson. The fire is still just 1.5 kilometres from the town.
By 6pm Wednesday, the evacuation order for portions of Yellowhead County will be lifted. The state of local emergency is still in place for Yellowhead County with the wildfires remaining a top concern.
Crews hope the rain and cold stretch of weather will help with the ongoing wildfires in the region.
