Since Monday, over 820 people have been safely evacuated out of Fort Chipewyan to Fort McMurray.
Anyone currently in Fort Chipewyan can request a seat on a plane by contacting Pulse between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1-800-973-9663 or 780-743-7000. Contact information will be taken down and Emergency Social Services will follow up to provide details on the next available flight to Fort McMurray.
Anyone evacuating by boat needs to contact Pulse before leaving at 1-800-973-9663 or 780-743-7000 between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All boats should travel to Barge Landing in Fort McKay. Transportation from Fort McKay to an evacuation registration centre will be provided if Pulse is informed before departure.
A significant number of additional resources arrived in Fort Chipewyan today on a Hercules plane and there are more on the way. Currently, Alberta Wildfire has three helitack crews, six helicopters completing bucketing operations and two airtankers groups working to contain this wildfire.
There are dozens of firefighters and emergency responders remaining in Fort Chipewyan to protect homes, buildings and critical infrastructure. Structural protection systems are in place with heavy equipment, numerous firetrucks, a tanker and pumper on standby.
Wildfire status
At the time of this update, Alberta Wildfire is reporting that wildfire MWF-025 is approximately 8,600 hectares and burning out of control 5 km from Allison Bay, approximately 4 km from the airport and approximately 10 km from the centre of Fort Chipewyan. The fire is being continuously monitored.

Residents will return when we know it’s safe
Re-entry will only happen when it is safe to do so. The Emergency Management Team continues to work around the clock to assess needs and support residents. Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, Mikisew Cree First Nation, Fort Chipewyan Métis Nation and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo will work together to establish a safe re-entry process.
There has been no damage reported to any structures in Fort Chipewyan.
