As the wildfires have displaced people from various regions in central and northern Alberta and advance polling opening Tuesday May 23 and Thursday May 27.
Elections Alberta will be having mobile voting stations for Albertian emergency workers combating the fires and those who’ve been displaced by them.
The decision was made by the Chief Electoral Officer who is not seeking to hold off the election due to the wildfires that are blazing and affected ridings including:
- ED 49Athabasca-Barrhead-Westlock
- ED 55 Central Peace Notley
- ED 58 Drayton Valley-Devon
- ED 70 Lesser Slave Lake
- ED 77 Peace River
The two advanced polling locations of Swan Hills and Fox Creek will be unavailable due to current evacuation orders however, if the evacuation orders in those areas be lifted and deemed safe to return. Those advance polls will open.
