Students from the Cold Lake Assumption Jr/Sr High School (AJSH) will be working together to raise as many donations to tackle on the hunger crisis within their community.
The students campaign was inspired by fellow Ecole Notre Dame High School students ‘Hunger for Change’ campaign with their own spin on the fundraiser, which will support the Cold Lake Food Bank.
Windspeaker Radio Network spoke with AJSH youth minister and teacher Siobhan Squires, as she talks about what her students noticed their community is facing with rise of inflation and the tough times the Cold Lake community is currently facing, with the students wanting to make a difference.
Squires says that she would love to see her 40 participating students to have arms full of donations that will be brought to the food bank, along with the hopes of raising one-thousand dollars to donate towards the Cold Lake Food Bank.
Squires goes on to say that it’s inspiring to see her students from grades 8-12 coming together in wanting to make a difference within their community with their first annual event.
