Dreamspeakers produces an international film festival (DIIFF) that celebrates the latest works by Indigenous people’s innovation in film, video, radio, and new media, presenting selections of Indigenous works from around the globe as well as being a Canadian Screen Awards Qualifier.
With more than 50 Indigenous made films available festival goers can learn about the vast perspectives and experiences of Indigenous People from Canada, the United States and across the globe.
Christine Frederick is the Executive Director at the Dreamspeakers Festival Society and spoke to the Windspeaker Radio Network discussing the history of Dreamspeakers.
With 52 films this year at Metro Cinemas at the Garneau Theatre, with networking events and development opportunities for artists and audiences (workshops, panel discussions, community dialogues) at the Milner Library there’s something for everyone this weekend!
When asked about the ever growing community within the Indigenous Film Scene this is what Frederick had to say.
The 30th Dreamspeakers International Indigenous Film Festival will run until April 23rd across the city of Edmonton.
