The City of Edmonton put out a call-to-action recently for Indigenous-led organizations and governments that might be interested in operating an emergency shelter for people experiencing homelessness in the city.
Christel Kjenner, Director of Affordable Housing and Homelessness with the City of Edmonton, spoke with CFWE Radio about the call and what exactly it entails.
Kjenner goes on to talk about how the idea for Indigenous-led homeless shelters in Edmonton came up, and what they can provide.
Kjenner also talks about the long-term solutions she hopes that this call-to-action will bring to Edmonton in the years to come.
More information on the initiative can be found here.
