As temperatures start to trend upward into spring, the risk of a wildfire trends upward too, both in forest and grass regions.
Michelle Huley, Wildfire Information Officer for the Peace River Area with Alberta Wildfire, spoke with CFWE Radio about how preparations have gone for this year’s wildfire season.
Wildfires can sometimes be used for good. Huley explains how hazard reduction burns, controlled fires, are utilized to prevent large scale wildfires from occurring. She explains how they work, and what exactly they do.
There are many things to do to make sure the risk of a wildfire being sparked stays low when out in the bush or operating machinery in wildfire-prone areas, and Huley lists all the ways you can stay safe.
