Buffalo Lake Métis settlement has opened it’s first gas station, and during a grand opening celebration on April 5th, the community brought nothing but smiles.
Buffalo Lake sits in the middle of three surrounding communities and according to General Manager of Buffalo Lake Development Corporation Jason Bourque, residents would have to drive a half hour just for gas .
Bourque expresses his excitement for the new convenience station and gas bar as it is part of the Settlement’s first phase of community development.
According to Bourque, Elders in the community are hopeful that other businesses and services will come to the settlement, including possible tourism opportunities.
Outside of getting gas and treats, 855 Buffalo Crossing will also provide home cooked meals including freshly baked Bannock and soup.
The store is located on Highway 855 just south of the community’s new rodeo grounds.
