The 2023 Country Music Awards will be held in Calgary marking the first time the event has ever been in the city.
The awards serve as an opportunity for music industry professionals from across the province to connect and for fans to hear live performances.
Since the CMAB’s will be moving to a bigger venue in the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino, officials say this weekend will be bigger and better than ever.
Bill Hanson is the President of Country Music Alberta and said the excitement in Calgary is continuing to grow.
From Tenille Townes to Gord Bamford many newcomers and veterans of the CMAB scene will be honored for their hard work within the industry. The Indigenous community will be well represented at this years event with Ashely Ghostkeeper, Brettyn Rose, Stirling John, Donny Lee, Kyle McKearney and Mat Cardinal (Prairie States) all nominated for awards.
Stirling John is a recording artist based out of Spruce Grove and mentioned the evergrowing Indigenous country music scene here in Alberta.
