The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is hosting a town-hall meeting in Fort Chipewyan on Wednesday to discuss water quality in the community.
In an RMWB post, the Municipality said they have implemented additional safety measures and enhanced testing at the Fort Chipewyan Water Treatment Plant, and Tap water continues to be safe to drink and use for all household activities
“All tests results of treated water since the leaks at Kearl Lake began have confirmed that tap water continues to be safe to drink and meets all federal and provincial standards”
The actions are a response to worries over wastewater seepage at Kearl Oil Sands impacting water quality in the hamlet.
The meeting is set for 6pm at Mamawai Community Hall, where Subject matter experts will answer any questions you may have.
