Wood Buffalo RCMP along with the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit are investigating the suspicious death of a man in Fort McMurray.
In the early hours of Sunday, September 24th, Wood Buffalo RCMP were called to a report of gunshots in a Thickwood neighborhood. Moments later police received another 911 call from someone reporting a man laying unresponsive on Tundra Drive.
Regional Emergency Services attended the call and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
RCMP are treating the death as a homicide, and the Major Crimes Unit have now taken charge of the investigation.
Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased, but they expect to have further information upon the completion of the autopsy, which is scheduled for Wednesday in Edmonton.
