A Cold Lake man faces Gun & drug trafficking charges after a case of road rage led police to a cache of more than 60 guns, cocaine and cash.
Mounties say they were alerted to the road rage case early July 28 when it was reported that victims were chased from a gas station within the northern city, about 295 km northeast of Edmonton.
At one point, the assailant stopped to beat on the victims’ vehicle’s window, and then stopped again at a nearby intersection where a handgun was pointed.
General investigation officers launched an investigation and on Aug. 17, a search warrant was executed at a home in Cold Lake north, with the assistance of the RCMP emergency response team.
Officers seized more than 60 firearms, many of them improperly stored and/or not legally possessed, and a “large” amount of ammunition. Also seized was about 92 grams of suspected cocaine, $2,700 in cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
42 year old Frederick James Daly of Cold Lake faces charges including pointing a firearm, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition.
Daly will appear in court in Bonnyville Aug. 22.
