A motorcycle rider has died after crashing into a moose east of Edmonton.
RCMP say they received a call early Saturday about a man down on Highway 16, 20 kilometres east of the provincial capital.
Police say they arrived to find the man, who was believed to be in his 60s and from Edmonton, deceased.
An initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle struck a moose, which was also discovered to be dead at the scene.
Speed is not considered to be a factor in the collision and road conditions at the time were clear and dry.
The man’s body was taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
