The AGLC is sticking to its decision to not allow a casino in Camorse relocate to Edmonton.
The plan to relocate the casino to Edmonton didn’t have enough community support according to Alberta’s gaming regulator.
Itw as also noted by the panel that the move of the casino not generate enough new gaming revenue and would have negative effects on racing entertainment areas along with local casinos.
AGLC reviewed its charitable gaming and pooling system in 2021.
Capital City Casinos submitted a proposal to relocate the Camrose Resort and Casino to Edmonton in 2021.
AGLC’s director of audit services said during the hearing, if the casino closes, no charity will be left behind — they would be redistributed to other casinos.
According to a release last year from Capitol City Casinos, the proposed operator, the casino would close should it not be approved in Edmonton.
