A special weather statement has been issued for parts of Alberta ahead of the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Environment Canada says the first accumulating snowfall is expected to begin Friday and last in some areas until Sunday.
Most Albertans will see snowfall, anyone travelling over the long weekend should be prepared, especially if their route takes them through the Rocky Mountains.
In a statement, EC says there’s little risk of freezing rain and ice due to high ground temperatures, and the snow isn’t expected to stick around for long.
Snow amounts for other areas remain uncertain.
Temperatures are expected to rebound next week with sun & double-digit temperatures through the Edmonton-to-Calgary corridor.
Rain will begin to spread across northern Alberta Thursday. Precipitation will change to snow on Friday in west-central regions, and for much of the province by Saturday.
