Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Bylaw Officers can now issue speeding tickets or warnings, as part of the expanded traffic enforcement efforts introduced earlier this year.
Members of the RMWB Bylaw Services traffic team have had authority to enfore speeding laws while working alongside Wood Buffalo RCMP on traffic safety in the region since February. The agencies have worked together throughout the years on traffic education and enforcement, e-scooters, school zone safety and off-highway vehicle pilot programs and expansion.
RCMP say that the partnership is intended to reduce dangerous driving, provide consistent safety messages to road users and prevent collisions.
They’re reminding drivers to obey posted speed limit signs and adjust their speed for road and weather conditions.
