The 34th annual Red Deer Harvest Run is set to take place Sunday, Sept. 13, offering participants both a 3 km walk/run and an 8 km competitive run. Children 10 and under can participate for free when accompanied by an adult. The event is hosted by the Red Deer Runners and organized by a volunteer committee. The run will start and finish in the Capstone neighbourhood, with participants travelling along the city’s riverside trails and through Heritage Ranch.
According to event organizer Otto Stepanik, the Harvest Run began in 1991 as a small community run hosted by the Red Deer Runners.
“Red Deer Runners provides an environment where people get together to pursue their interests in fitness, specifically in running,” said Stepanik.
The event has since grown to more than 450 runners, supported by a dedicated group of volunteers.
“Most importantly, the Harvest Run is a good time,” Stepanik said. “Families and friends can spend a morning cheering each other on as they celebrate their fitness journey.”
