The Indigenous Artist Market Collective will host its 3rd Annual Every Child Matters Traditional Feast & Round Dance on September 19 at the Alberta Aviation Museum in Edmonton. The family-friendly, alcohol and drug-free gathering will feature a pipe ceremony, traditional feast, round dance, giveaway and ceremony, along with opportunities for community connection and cultural celebration.
Lorrie Lawrence, Executive Director with I AM Collective, spoke with CFWE on the event’s importance in connecting urban community members with culture through the round dance and traditional feast.

Lawrence says more than 25 artisan vendors will be on site, with vendor fees supporting the drummers, stickman, and pipe carrier, while encouraging visitors to shop local and support Indigenous artists.
Lawrence says the event offers non-Indigenous visitors the opportunity to learn about the cultural significance and symbolism of the round dance while supporting reconciliation, while providing Indigenous attendees a space to connect with community, culture and healing.
