The baseball facility at West Park Middle School in Red Deer is set to undergo a $1 million upgrade, as announced by the Red Deer Minor Baseball Association (RDMBA). This transformation is being funded by the Daniel Family Foundation in partnership with the RDMBA.
The upgrade aims to create lasting opportunities for young athletes, families, volunteers, and baseball enthusiasts for generations to come, as stated by the RDMBA on its website on August 24.
This project will honour the legacy of Darold Daniel and his love of baseball, family, and community. The revitalized facility will become home to the annual Darold Daniel Memorial Tournament and will be complemented by the Darold Daniel Scholarship/Bursary Fund, creating opportunities for young athletes both on and off the field.
“During this process, RDMBA and the Daniel Family Foundation remain committed to working collaboratively with the City of Red Deer, West Park Middle School, the West Park Community Association, neighbouring residents and project partners to ensure the work is completed responsibly and respectfully,” stated RDMBA.
Construction is expected to start at the end of this month, with the first phase of improvements expected to continue through the fall and additional enhancements planned throughout 2027.
