The City of Edmonton will be rehabilitating the 184 Street Bridge over Yellowhead Trail starting the week of August 10.
To complete the work as quickly as possible, the bridge will be temporarily closed for approximately three months.
The city said the full bridge closure will allow crews to accelerate the construction timeline and reduce the project duration to a single construction season, with work expected to finish in fall 2026.
The ramps on and off Yellowhead Trail will remain open throughout construction.
While drivers will not be able to cross Yellowhead Trail using the bridge, they will continue to have access to 184 Street using the ramps.
Traffic needing to cross Yellowhead Trail will be detoured to alternative routes, including Anthony Henday Drive, 156 Street and 170 Street.
ETS bus stops and business, pedestrian and residential access will be maintained, although On Demand Transit travel time may be impacted.
The project includes renewing the bridge deck, replacing the surface asphalt and installing an upgraded waterproofing system.
This is the first rehabilitation of the bridge since it was constructed in the early 2000s.
