The Parkland RCMP is investigating a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday afternoon in Spruce Grove.
Police report that a Stony Plain Community Peace Officer attempted to stop a red sedan for speeding. The sedan turned westbound onto Highway 16a and ran several lights before colliding with a minivan.
According to the RCMP’s initial investigation, a sedan was approaching a red light on Calahoo Road when it turned onto Highway 16a headed westbound. The driver failed to stop at the red light and accelerated to a high speed.
Both the driver and passenger of the minivan suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital. The driver and passenger of the sedan also sustained serious injuries but were expected to recover.
The police have released a news statement declaring that they are conducting an ongoing investigation.
Parkland RCMP would like to inform the public that they will be investigating every element surrounding the collision and, should it be warranted, will lay the appropriate charges.
No further details have been released regarding the individuals involved in the crash. RCMP is currently investigating the incident and may lay charges.
