Allan Adam has been re-elected Chief of The Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation in Northern Alberta.
The lifelong resident of Fort Chipewyan received 359 votes in total. He was challenged by Raymond Cardinal who won 218 votes.
Through his 16 years, Chief Adam has lead the First Nation through the challenges of oil sands growth, environmental issues, a pandemic, and the recent fire that caused the evacuation of the entire community.
Chief Adam’s term will continue until 2027.
ACFN re-elected Councilor Teri Villebrun and elected Councilors Hazel Mercredi, Tim Flett, and Flossie Cyprean.
