Operation Friendship is an Inner City program tailored to helping the less fortunate senior citizens in Edmonton, and every year they hope to bring in as many socks as they can through #Socktober.
Jimmy Morrison is the Operation Friendship community relations manager and spoke with the Windspeaker Radio Network to discuss the origins of #Socktober in Edmonton.
They have accumulated some great partners throughout the years including the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings. Fans attending October games are encouraged to bring a sock donation. The team hopes to hit a goal of 10,000 pairs by the end of the month.
Morrison says anyone who does make a donation will get a pair of tickets to another game this year.
If people can’t make the game on Sunday, there are many places to donate including the Operation Friendship building, or with Sean Burke on CFWE/CJWE Mornings.
Details on the campaign can be found on their website.
