Albertans are invited to participate in a series of telephone town halls focused on a potential Alberta Pension Plan.
The sessions will occur in October and November and will be hosted by the Alberta Pension Plan Engagement Panel, led by former provincial treasurer Jim Dinning.
The engagement panel is gathering Albertans’ feedback on the implications, opportunities and challenges of establishing a provincial pension plan. The panel will then submit a report based on the provincewide engagement.
An Alberta Pension Plan would have to be approved by referendum before it could be implemented.
The first session is set for Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for residents in northern Alberta. The next ones will be for those in southern Alberta, Calgary, and Edmonton before wrapping up with callers from central Alberta on Nov. 22.
