Every year the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame near Red Deer inducts sports athletes, builders, and media personalities into their Hall of Fame.
Cara Currie-Hall was recently announced in a list of inductees into the class of the 2023 Alberta Sports Hall of Fame
Hall, from the Montana First Nation, is one of Canada’s premiere indigenous sports advocates, leaders, and builders who has dedicated her life to the recognition and advancement of indigenous sports provincially, nationally, and internationally.
She was a founding board member of the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta, World Indigenous National Sports international, Aboriginal Sport Circle and the Alberta Sports Recreation Park & Wildlife Board. She has sat on the board for the Canadian Association of the Advancement of Women in Sport. Cara was instrumental in the founding of the North American Indigenous Games and was founder of the National Aboriginal Coaching School.
Her years of advocacy work on behalf of indigenous athletes has positively impacted the future of sports.
The 2023 Alberta Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for May 26-27
